UPS Carbon Neutral Shipping

Mercedes Electric Supply understands the importance of implementing programs and initiatives to reduce carbon emissions and that long-term growth cannot be separated from issues of economic, social, and environmental policies. This is why we selected UPS, a company with capabilities to measure, manage, and mitigate their carbon emissions.

UPS’s ability to measure and report our full range of shipping carbon emissions gives us the ability to accurately report our Scope 3 emissions (more details about UPS's scope and boundary can be found at www.sustainability.ups.com). It is important to note that UPS’s Carbon Footprint Calculator and methodology is verified by SGS Environmental Services Inc., the world’s leading carbon verification and certification company, and is also certified by the CarbonNeutral Company. In other words, when we commissioned UPS to calculate the environmental impact of shipping our products we knew that the numbers would be credible and accurate.

Once we set our carbon footprint baseline, UPS helped us look at areas to reduce our carbon impact and offered the UPS carbon neutral service. UPS provides the shipping service, then purchases and retires carbon offsets in our behalf, effectively creating a carbon neutral shipping supply chain.

Mercedes Electric Supply understands the importance of being transparent and wants to make sure we share our sustainability story. Being more sustainable is wasting less and making responsible operating decisions. We chose to engage UPS because they help us to connect cost savings and efficiencies to sustainability.  When our customers are choosing between our products versus those of our competitors, we hope our sustainability story tips the balance.
